One thing coaching has taught me is that the moment you think you've figured everything out is the moment you stop getting better.
It doesn't matter if you're coaching a softball team, leading a sales organization, or working toward your own personal goals. There is always something new to learn.
Every practice. Every game. Every challenge.
They're all opportunities to improve.
Some of the best lessons I've learned as a coach haven't come from winning games. They've come from watching my players respond to challenges, seeing what works, and recognizing when I need to adjust my own approach.
The same thing happens in business.
As leaders, we ask our teams to listen, take feedback, and improve. But are we holding ourselves to that same standard?
You can't expect your team to be coachable if you're not willing to be coached yourself.
Winning feels great. Losing doesn't.
But both have something to teach us.
The difference between someone who simply participates and someone who truly competes is what they do with those lessons.
Do they make excuses? Or do they make adjustments?
Do they get frustrated? Or do they get better?
Competitors don't stop learning when they succeed. They keep learning because they want to succeed again.
What did I learn last week that I can use to get better this week?
Take that lesson, make an adjustment, and put it into action.
That's how we grow as coaches, leaders, teammates, and competitors.
Stay coachable. Keep competing.
What is one lesson you've learned recently that's changed how you lead or compete?
